Good Morning Call Manga In English

A quick synopsis – high school student Nau and Uehara are scammed into renting the same apartment. They can’t go home, so what’s left to do but to split the rent and share? The only problem is Uehara is in the ‘Top Three’ at school. Popular, and a bit of a jerk, he makes a list of rules, one of which is to hide the fact that they are living together.

Sure, I could probably write a whole essay on the frustration of seeing a ditzy, oppressed, ‘dumb’ girl for a main character. Her situation borders on abusive. Nao has a series Tohru Complex. Most people have read or seen Fruits Basket so I use Tohru as a prime example of these girls who get pushed around by boys who think they know better.

This

And yeah, Orihime from Bleach sorta falls into this category too. For funsies you can watch the leekspin over and over here. (with sound)

Call Of The Night, Vol. 1 (1): 9781974720514: Kotoyama: Books

Good question. And I’ve spent a bit of time trying to figure it out. I think part of it is the epic heart these stories have, and ‘Good Morning Call’ is no exception. It has tons of real heart and emotion that trump all of the slightly skewed gender perceptions.

‘Good Morning Call’ is exactly how reading a zany, shojo manga feels. It’s full of daft exclamations, silly situations and the stakes are always high. Drama. Drama. More drama. And food.

Food always plays a role in the best manga/anime etc. So it was great to see it feature so prominently in this live action series.

Watch Good Morning Call

The secondary characters aren’t overlooked. Marina and Daichi are especially convincing, even if my heart breaks over and over for Daichi-kun. Poor lamb. He tries so hard, and yet it never seems to get him anywhere. Plus, Nao is BLIND to his affections. Silly girl.

Yuri is fabulous. I love how her character injects something slightly racier, and there are moments that are definitely more ‘adult’ than the teen-drama that overpowers the majority of the screen time.

This series is cute af. You’ll find someone to fall in love with, to laugh at, to root for. It’s such a fun adaptation and I would urge anyone who is into Japanese TV or literature to watch it right away.EditSynopsisNao Yoshikawa stays behind to live by herself when her parents leave to inherit her grandpa's farm in the country. Cute and funny, Good Morning Call is a manga I'd recommend to any shoujo fan that is looking for a upbeat and lighthearted story to enjoy some time and laugh a little.

Good

GMC is the story of Nao Yoshikawa, a 15 year old girl who stays behind in the city when her parents move to the countryside. Excited at the prospect of living alone for the first time, she soon encounters a problem: the apartment where she's going to live has also been rented to a boy, Hisashi Uehara who (of course) is one of the most popular guys at her school.

Unable to decide who should ... keep the apartment (and also faced with a raise in the rental fee), these two decide to become roomates, even though they have nothing in common and didn't even know each other until then. You can probably guess what happens next. I really like the way this mangaka draws her characters, especially when they make silly expressions. The heroine in this is quite silly, but likeable, and her relationship with Uehara provides some really funny situations, most of them thanks to the fact that he is probably one of the least romantic and cheesy shoujo heroes ever. The low point is probably the extension. Most readers might be put off by the lack of real plot in the second half of the series. Some volumes are actually full of fillers that, while funny, don't really bring that much to the story.

Good Morning Call is the perfect shoujo for anyone in any mood of any kind! Rarely do I get to experience such a fun and light-hearted romance. Though the story is likely never to happen, the relationship contained in it feels very genuine and real for being between two very young teenagers.

The story is overall playful. It's a series of twists and turns and this's and that's, creating an uplifting experience for the reader to enjoy! It strays from the usual shoujo path by a fine line, giving you a similar feel to other, more generic series but also providing you with a new type ... of story to enjoy, as it feels most of the development occurs in the home the two leads have been forced to share. The art was at the top of my list for a shoujo, being of a more bubbly nature. I was also very impressed at how each character was diverse from each other in very real and unique ways! A defect I find in not only shoujo, but in most mangas is a reuse of character design, or a basic good-looking outline that is followed, which distracts from personality. The artist did a fantastic job at making each character, large or small, recognizable in such a way that you can tell who they are even years after you have read the story. Good Morning Call is an excellent and warm blend of comedy and love! Rereading is always an interesting endeavor, because you never really know how things will hold up to your memories. Or at least, I don’t, what with my memory not being the most reliable thing ever. Good Morning Call was one of my favorites back in my initial manga reading. While I definitely still enjoy it, I can definitely admit it’s not one of the best shojo manga out there. The premise of Good Morning Call is that two teens Uehara and Nao, due to family circumstances, need to get apartments by themselves. They manage to find a great deal, only it turns out they rented the same apartment. Either one of them has to move out or they have to share the two bedroom apartment. They agree to split the place and the rent, because neither can afford to find another place. As one would expect from a shojo manga, the two fall in love over the course of the manga. That’s predictable. However, the way the romance evolves is rather different from the typical plot line. It’s a very non-sappy romance, without any traditional confessing or romantic dates. They sort of skip all of that and naturally evolve into a couple. The romance will be unsatisfying to a lot of shojo readers, I think, because there’s not much kissing and none of the stereotypical swoony moments. The biggest issue with Good Morning Call is that there’s just not a whole lot going on. It’s mostly about the romantic foibles of this group of friends, which is consistently entertaining, but falls short of really being a plot. Plus, nothing is really resolved in any way by the end of the series. I do think the ending is cute, but I totally get why a lot of the people on the site where I read this were not
