Manga that completed its run in 2017 concurrently with its TV anime adaptation. Though it’s one of my favourite series, the original manga’s ending was unsatisfying in that it seemed a bit too rushed and left quite a few loose ends, particularly for the side characters.
. Each chapter (or two) focuses on one person – first up is Kamomebata Noriko aka Moka, who’s left her spoilt princess days behind & found a renewed purpose in life as a fashion designer. Second chapter focuses on Akane-sensei and Narumi-oniisan and how they’re both still terribly unlikable (ugh).
And because Yokoyari-sensei knows people loved and were heartbroken over Ecchan’s plight, she gets 2 full chapters showing that there is life after Hanabi. I wholeheartedly loved Ecchan’s story here; loved her new love interest, loved how she continues to be awkward at the art of romance and struggling to express her emotions.

Without a bit of drama though – Ecchan has a one-night stand with a lady whom she first runs into on a train, and who then turns out to be her college lecturer. But things stays off the complicated path and instead, ends up as a sweet tale of how Ecchan finds her happy ending in a place she never thought she would.
Ecchan: So I don’t understand any other kind of love. But since I don’t understand what this is…I’m guessing that I probably do like you.
Nerome-sensei’s reaction, excusing herself to the toilet to calm herself down – it was oh-so perfect. Ecchan really does know how make a girl swoon even if she claims otherwise!

As always, Yokoyari’s art is exquisite, making even someone like adult Moka captivating in my eyes. I look forward to finding out what Mugi and Hanabi are up to all these years later – just as long as they don’t end up in each other’s arms.
