Is about a princess that lived all her life trained to become empress, by getting rid of her facial expressions, learning about everything she needs in order to become the empress that brings peace like her father. But..
And she learns it starting from a dream that could be from the future. First, she's happy about her dream but after the other ones, she starts doubting her kingdom, her relationships, her truth. She doesn't break through, and learns what she didn't know, recreates good relationships, and accepts the change of the future all for her dream of becoming an empress that will bring peace everywhere.
I'm quite proud of her, when she learns that not everything about her was peaceful and good, she started wanting to learn more about the real world and reality. I admit she was slow to find correlations between different things at the start (since this was new for her) but as she knows more, she doesn't disappoint us at all and understands more quickly the meaning between events. She's quick-witted without any doubt.
Very Few Webtoons Can Compete With The Great Wish When It Comes To Art. Oof Just Look At Them
There is also the romance that is entertaining (a little too fast I think but no big deal) and that creates interesting scenes. Some dreams can prove she's done a different choice when others seem to contradict and make her doubt her actions.
I don't know why but I want to put 10 in the drawing because it's really good despite it not being the best I've seen (and maybe I don't want to put 8-9 because of the fact that I was literally drawn into the Webtoon?)
P.S: She makes me think of Adonis in Reminiscence Adonis because of the lack of emotions despite the fact that they are completely different and we can't really compare them.
Read The Great Wish Chapter 61 On Mangakakalot
The romance comes in super quickly with no build up, so if that's why you came, you will be disappointed. If you look past that, the storyline of the FL trying to figure out her prophetic dreams and what they mean is really interesting. Watching her try to improve her limited knowledge of the world outside of royalty while also uncovering the hidden agendas the people she thought she could trust hold is why I'm reading. Despite the lack of build up there is some chemistry between ML and FL. I think as time goes on they'll have some cute moments even if it's debatable if the couple earned them. The art is also really beautiful so that's another plus. (Read up to chapter 28)
The great wish innovates on the nobility/past life genre. It introduces dreams instead of shenanigans like reincarnation and time travel. It produces a sensible and in my opinion realistic portrayal of a princess. But it has a fatal flaw. There are no stakes. I'm unable to invest myself in this manga, everything is set to be there are no obstacles, and it is immensely frustrating. The protagonist basically achieves nothing in a hundred chapters. There's no battle for succession, there's no saving the kingdom from ruin, there's nothing! This manga feels like a slice of life. Did I mention that it's way too long? It feels like a story that'll conclude after at least 300 if not 500 chapters. I think there's potential for more in the future and hopefully, it'll get better.
I truly enjoyed reading this. It isn't the most popular but there is great potential with the story telling. The FL is quite aloof and seemingly feels that she is dispassionate. We need to have the understanding of how she was brought up in her household. However, I find that this is where we will find her growth. I love her quiet yet fierce demeanor.
Manga: The Great Wish Chapter
Interspersed with the present time are flashforward scenes of what is going to happen in her future if she doesn't change her present. The twist is that the panels are showing from her POV in the future. It is vague enough for you to be intrigued and to find out more. It makes you understand her a little bit more and the steps she is taking in her present.
I loved both the ML and FL panels together, they are one of the few drawn panels that I enjoy seeing. It isn't the most passionate type of falling in love but a subtle yet determined decision to like each other, which eventually leads to a more romantic love.
There is enough intrigue and politics involved in the race to take the throne. There are mention of various kingdoms and how it is all connected to each other. This is a definite favourite of mine. Looking forward to read more and hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
Manga Like The Great Wish
I dropped this manwha early on because the FL seemed kinda lifeless, with no real motivations or feelings, kinda just there. Theres nothing particularly interesting happening in the story either.
