The Comic Artist and His Assistants (Japanese: マンガ家さんとアシスタントさんと , Hepburn: Mangaka-san to Ashisutanto-san to ) is a Japanese four-panel manga series writt and illustrated by Hiroyuki. It was serialized in Square ix's sein manga magazine Young Gangan from February 1, 2008 to September 21, 2012 and the chapters collected into 10 tankōbon volumes. A sequel titled The Comic Artist and His Assistants 2 was serialized from August 2, 2013 to June 6, 2014. An anime television series adaptation animated by Zexcs aired betwe April 7, 2014 and June 23, 2014.
Manga author Yūki Aito is an incredibly perverted man whose main loves and desires is to love everyone close to him and draw panties. His assistant, Ashisu, is constantly put into awkward situations and is forced to cope with Aito's shanigans.
Yūki is the manga artist of the currtly serialized Hajiratte Cafe Latte (HajiCafe). He is mostly viewed as perverted by many and does not hesitate to tell his interest or asking his assistants to be his model for referce. Sahoto is Yūki's 19-year-old assistant. Sahoto is described as serious on her work ethic yet very down-to-earth. She is oft the target of Yūki's mischief, much to her chagrin, and doesn't hesitate to lash out at him. Albeit as a manga artist assistant, Sahoto also aims to serialize a manga series of her own; however, her attempts in doing so were constantly rejected by editors. Although she is more oft than not annoyed by Yūki's antics, she deeply respects him as a manga artist.
Mihari is Yūki's editor. Mihari is usually violt around Yūki, oft scolding and beating him for his shortcomings. She is conscious of her small breast size and thus has a breast complex. She and Yūki were once classmates and is noted to have a liking for the latter at the time. Despite constantly berating Yūki for his irresponsible or otherwise perverted behavior, she's be shown to be quite tolerant on his deadlines, and she constantly courages him to do better, knowing he is more than capable of doing so. She dies it, but it is hinted that she has not completely gott over the ormous crush on Yūki she has had forever from high school.
Rinna is one of Yūki's assistants. Despite being an assistant, Rinna knows nothing about drawing manga, as she was hired by Mihari due to Yūki wanting someone who is cute. Rinna greatly admires Yūki and his work, being one of his fans. She is easy going and is gerally cheerful, playing along with Yūki's weird perverted ideas. Rinna is 18 years old.

Sa is a recurring assistant of Yūki. Sa is known by the manga industry as a hardworking and reliable assistant. Due to her small, childish stature, Sa is usually mistak as a child and, at times, acts like one, especially wh she is drunk. At first, she is shown to have weak strgth, being unable to ev op an ink pot, causing her to leave many manga artists out of pure embarrassmt, which was rumored to be because the manga artists had offded her. She later develops feelings for Yūki. Sa is 19 years old and happs to be a major sadist.
Branya is Yūki's pet cat and mascot character. It can draw very well, and has be the subject of jealousy from Ashisu, who notes that it can draw better than her despite being a cat.
Kazuma is the manga artist of the currtly serialized Hot Blooded (Fire) Fighter. His manga's popularity is 14th out of 20 works in Gongon Comics.

Mangaka san to Assistant san is a slice of life harem comedy depicting the life of a perverted mangaka who makes the monthly manga HajiCafe with his assistants. It's a nice comedy. The animation and art is pretty good and the characters are all likeable.

Not much of a story. The 12 episodes pass by showing different situations of the team. Just like in Lucky Star, Danshi Koukousei and Nichijou, this anime also shows different skits. Almost every skit is funny and nice to watch.
I really enjoyed the animation and artwork of this anime. The character designs were really amazing. It looked kinda like ... the average anime should. Not much fancy but not too dull to make it look bad. Nonetheless, the character designs are really amazing for a short anime series. Really enjoyed watching the characters. Character 8/10: Our protagonist and mangaka, Aito Yuuki is a pervert. Not those perverts which you hate but one of those who are cool and funny. He can be thoughtful sometimes but his pervertness ruins the mood. A really funny character. Each of his assistants has her own special personality. Some of the girls get more screen time than the others due to their importance or relation with Aito. But each girl gives the show it's own unique twist. Enjoyment 8/10: Just as enjoyable as any other comedy anime. You've got your average events in check e.g. beach event, hot springs event, Take care of me I'm sick event etc. The animation is really nice and comedy is laughable. It's quite an enjoyable short series which is a good time pass with loads of laughter. Overall, a splendid comedy short to watch with a nice dose of eye candy.
This is an anime about a man and his dream. His dream of panties. Seeing panties, smelling panties, touching panties.... Yeah that's honestly most of what this show is about. Oh, and a there's also little stuff about making manga. But it's ecchi manga about panties anyway.
