The popular Berserk dark fantasy manga is set to resume serialization, a major announcement from publisher Hakusensha has revealed. Picking up the baton from the late Kentaro Miura are his friend and fellow mangaka, Kouji Mori, and Miura’s assistants.
As explained in a message from Mori on the Hakusensha website, he was the only person who had been informed of Berserk‘s full story by Miura. “I will recall the details as much as possible and tell the story. Also, I will only write the episodes that Miura talked to me about, ” he wrote. “I will not flesh it out. I will not write episodes that I don’t remember clearly. I will only write the lines and stories that Miura described to me. Of course, it will not be perfect. Still, I think I can almost tell the story that Miura wanted to tell.”
Hakusensha’s Young Animal Editing Department noted that Miura did not leave behind rough drafts, and stated that while it would be impossible to create a manuscript exactly as Miura would, “we will write the manga so as not to deviate from Mr. Miura’s own words.” On how the resumption will be carried out on the publishing side, it wrote, “From the next issue [Issue 13], we will first publish six chapters until the end of ‘Fantasia Arc/Elf Island Chapter’. After this, we will start a new arc.”
Kentaro Miura's Final 'berserk' Manga Volume Is Set For Us Release
Following the resumption, Berserk will have the credits of “Original work by Kentaro Miura, Manga by Studio Gaga, Supervised by Kouji Mori.” The manga volumes’ numbering will maintain their order.
Currently, 41 tankoubon volumes have been published as of December 2021. Miura passed away from a ruptured aortic dissection on May 6, 2021 at the age of 54.
Mori shared that he was initially unsure about what to do with his knowledge of Berserk‘s story, saying that he wondered if he should talk to fans via an interview or publish article with illustrations. Below is an excerpt from his statement:

Manga, which includes the final chapters that Miura had created for the series, will launch in the United States and France next summer.
The Berserk Manga Returns Thanks To His Friend And Studio
Will publish the manga's 41st volume in English in November 2022. The volume will go on sale at comic stores on November 9 and in bookstores on November 22. The trade paperback release will include a two-sided color poster insert.
The 41st manga volume shipped in Japan on Friday. Full-page advertisements for the volume appeared in The New York Times, Le Monde, and Asahi Shimbun newspapers:

Berserk' Creator Kentaro Miura Dies At 54
The 41st volume's release came in both regular and special editions, the latter of which includes special canvas art and a drama CD. Miura drew the canvas art (pictured left) that adorns the special edition of the 41st volume. The drama CD features the return of the anime's cast and portrays the manga's key Awakening chapter, which has never been seen in any of the manga's anime adaptations.
Miura passed away on May 6 due to acute aortic dissection. He was 54. Since the announcement of Miura's passing, creators in Japan and throughout the world have offered their condolences.
Manga follows Guts, a superhumanly strong warrior who wields a large sword, as he wanders a dark medieval world filled with demons, corrupt and decadent nobles, and other horrors. Every night, he is assailed by demons, attracted to the curse branded on him after a traumatic event. He makes his way through the world on a quest to slay a former friend turned demon, who took everything away from him.

Began reprinting the manga in the deluxe hardcover editions in February 2019. Each volume features three normal compiled volumes of the manga.
The manga inspired a television anime series in 1997, as well as an anime film trilogy from 2012 to 2013. Another television anime series premiered in Japan in July 2016, and the second half of the new series premiered in April 2017.Berserk is a manga series writt and drawn by Ktaro Miura, and has be published in Japanese by Hakussha in the magazines Monthly Animal House (1989–1992) and Young Animal (1992–). Since the late 2000s, the manga has be published irregularly, with frequt hiatuses until Miura's death in 2021. Grief As Japanese Author Of Famed 'berserk' Manga Dies
The chapters (called episodes) are since November 26, 1990, also collected by Hakussha in tankōbon volumes; 41 have be released as of 2021. The volumes are released in glish by Dark Horse Comics since October 22, 2003; they are since February 27, 2019, also releasing hardcover editions which each collect multiple volumes.
The Japanese volumes were re-released with new cover art starting in 2016, following the rebranding of Hakussha's Jets Comics imprint as Young Animal Comics.
A lone swordsman named Guts walks into an inn where a group of bandits are tormting an elf named Puck and a red-haired youth. Guts kills all but one of the bandits, telling him to inform his master that the Black Swordsman is coming. Guts later finds and kills the Baron before taking his leave, inspiring Puck to travel with the swordsman. Accepting a ride from an old priest named Adolf, Guts experices a nightmare and wakes up to an attack by spiritually-possessed skeletons, which kill Adolf and his daughter Colette. Guts and Puck arrive to a town run by a pagan-hunting Count that Guts targets.

Corkus attempts to rob Guts before he saved for the Hawks' female captain Casca, who is in turned saved by their leader Griffith as he grievously wounds Guts.
Wh Guts recovers days later, he is forced into joining the Band of the Hawk wh Griffith defeats him in a duel and later learns of the Beherit pdant Griffith possesses. Three years pass and the Band of the Hawk grow in power and numbers as they are employed by the Kingdom of Midland for its Hundred Year War against the Tudor Empire, and Griffith rises in the kingdom's hierarchy after a successful battle. During a siege, Guts and Griffith counter the Apostle Nosferatu Zodd, a fearsome immortal warrior who nearly kills them before noticing Griffith's Beherit. Zodd takes his leave while warning Guts that Griffith will be his doom once the latter dream crumbles while still considering him a frid.
Griffith's rise in status and closess to Princess Charlotte is ill-received by Midland's noblem, with the king's brother Julius orchestrating an assassination attempt during the a fall hunt.
